THE VOTE FOR SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

— At last meeting of the Education Board, Mr Thomas Mackenzie gave notice of the following :—" That as to-day's statement of acounts show a credit balance of £895, available for general purposes, less increase of salaries since vottd, this Board resolve to grant to school committees on an equitable basis a portion of that surplus, together with the increased vote granted last session for the assistance of school committees, and that in the meantime the secretary of the Board be directed to ascertain from the Minister of Education the exact amount now due to the Otago Board under last session's increased vote." As no satisfaction can be got out of the head office, this motion will not now come on at this month's meeting of the Board.
