A PITIFUL STORY
AUCKLAND, March 2. Thos. J. T. Dowson (?), a Dunedin youth, was charged at the Police Court with attempting suicide. He returned from a* picnic in a drunken condition, and attempted to cut his throat with a pocket knife. His solicitor said he had been' drinking to excess, and had lost his situation. The wound was not serious. The Bench bound the accused over in his own recognisance in the sum of £25.
