CHINESE RAILWAYS.

(Received January 5, at 8.55 a.m.) The British Chinese Corporation have secured an agreement for the construction of the Shanghai-Nankin Railway in place of the preliminary contract of May, 1898. The terms follow the conditions of the Hankow-Canton Railway concession. SHANGHAI EVACUATED. LONDON, January 4. (Received January 5, at 8.41 a.xnl) The last German detachment has quitted Shanghai. The majority of the troops return home, the rest go to Tientsin. The evacuation of Shanghai is now completed.
