LORD HAWKE’S TEAM v. WANGA.NUI. WANGANUI. January 5. Play was resumed at 11.30 this morning, Warner and Thompson batting, Howden and Fannin bowling. The score steadily increased to 40, when a change of bowling was made, but the scoring still continued. A t 80. Thompson had' a life in the long field. Without farther score Warner played Bannister on. 80—3—27. The retiring batsman played a careful innings. Whatman a few minutes, and then played Howden into Francis’s hands on the boundary. 90—4—15. At the luncheon adjournment the visitors were all oat for 140, AUer Worser and Thompson had been parted the wickets fell rapidly, Howden. gave most trouble with the ball' taking five wickets for 49 runs, although Bannister took four wickets.
