DEATH OF MR A BARTLEMAN.
Mr Alexander Bailsman, a wcD-known and respected resident of Dunedin, parsed away at cis residence at Hovel terrace yesterday after having been in failing health for some time past. The decayed gentleman, who came to this colonv over thirty vears ago, was the f-tui of a-fanner near 1 cebi ' Scotland, and worked there in the office of the lato Mr John Bathgate, favorably known in Otago afterwards as Judge Bathgate, who had the agency of the Union liarik Ox Scotland- Mr who wus one of his chief clerks, subsequently came to Dunedin, where he rejoined Iris old employer in the Bank of Otago as teller, and ruse to the position of manager. When the Bank was converted into the National Bank u in it for a time, and then joined the Colonial Bank. He nest became a member of the ton of Ritchie, Bartleman, and 00., which represented the Colonial Investment Company, and then some years later he started business for himself. Bo became secretary for a largo number of companies, and also acted as auditor to many business concerns. The deceased gentleman, who was in his sixty-third vear, loaves a large family, principally grown-up.
