OLD DUNEDIN.
The Otago Early Settlers' Association, at the express wish of a number of old Dunedinites, have decided to give a public limelight exhibition of old identities and old scenes in the early settlers' days. Bell Hill will be shown in its entirety, and several views of it when in a state of demolition, also views showing how Bond and Crawford streets, etc., were formed; also Princes street when the bridge over the Kaituna Creek, in front of what is now known as the Colonial Bank Buildings, was broken down and traffic stopped at high water, the locomotives of the period (bullock drays) having to go down the beach, and up or down Jetty street, and other notable events. Reminiscences and anecdotes of early settlers will be civen by Messrs Donald Reid, Alexander Thomson, L. Langlands, and others, and the views of Early Dunedin will be explained by Mr John Wood. The proceeds of the exhibition are to be applied to the building fund of a museum for the holding of collections reminiscent of the early days.
