CITY COUNCIL REPORTS.

The Finance Committee rccominond the payment of £155 Os lOd towards tho' expenses in connection with the Coronation celebrations.

Tho Gas Committee report, inter alia, that requisitions for gasworks supplies costing £257 12s 6d have gecn granted. Mr J. Leonard's tender for the purchase of old iron at the works had been accepted, at 2b 9d per cwt for good cast iron and Is Gd for fire bars and burnt iron.

The Tramways Committee report., inter alia, that they'have no recommendation to make in reference to the letter from the Waipori Palls Electric Power Company, Limited, of 12th inst.

The Water Committee have granted £lO 4s for supplies, and passed pay-sheets, etc., for £5,030 Is 6d. The Public Works Committee recommend the payment of £37 0s 6d for work done by the Mornington Council on the EgUnton road and in connection with asphalting the footpaths on the Town Belt; that the sum of £SO. be paid to Metcalf Bros, for the continuance of the dust eontract beyond their term; that the request of Robertson and Cameron for an increase in tho price of their contract for concrete kerbing and channelling be declined; and that the construction of tcu chains of concrete channelling in each ward by day labor be authorised, a careful record of the cobt being kept. Tho General Committee report that permission has been granted to Wm. Kirk and Alexander Barron, proprietor and manager of the coffee stall in Rattray street, to keep the same open from 10 to 12 p.m. on Saturdays, and from 12 p.m. on Sundays to 5 a.ni. on Mondays, the stall to be conducted on the same lines as by the previous lessee, and tho charge for the license to bo 7s 6d per month. With regard to the Fire Brigade, the Committee recommend that tho present contract with Mr R. Metcalf for the supply of horses to tho Great King street Fire Brigade Station for the sum c' £4O per annum be continued for another twelve months; and assent to the granting' of licenses to certain firms to store dangerous goods. Accounts, etc., for £ll6 Ms 7d were passed for payment.
