(Received .September BS,»t 9.S a-m.) - The Russian Government have completed' a magnificent memorial church at Shipka Pass, Bulgaria, the scene of ; severe fighting in the Rnsso-Turkish War. • [The defence' of Shipka Pass by the Turks first under Mehemet Ali and subsequently under Sulieman Pasha against the advance of the Russians .under General Qourko was one of the most notable events of the campaign. The engagements, which were characterised by great valor on either side, lasfied from July, 1877, till January, 1878, when tho Turkish Army were finally defeated. The capture of the Pass was announced by the Grand Duke Nicholas to the Emperor in the Wowing terms;—“ I am. happy to congratulate your .Majesty upon a brilliant victory gained this day, just one month from the capture of P'.evna. General Radetzky, after desperate fighting, has made prisoner the whole Turkish army defending the Schipka- Pass, consisting al-, together of forty-one battalions, ten batteries, and one regiment of cavalry. Prince Mifsky has occupied Kezanlik, and General Scobeleff holds Schipka. Antivari , surrendered the same day to (he Montenegrins,”]
