DIX'S GAIETY COMPANY.
In addition to the u'tjjQ vaudeville performance at the Alhambra Theatre last night, there was a special exhibition of Coronation pictures by means of the Vitagraph. These pictures Mr Dix secured in England in such good time as to enable him to put them on first of all theatrical managers in the colonies, The views have been well chosen and well -taken. 1 They foinprise incidents such as the naval review at Spithead, the military review at % Hyde Park, the procession through London, the presentation of medals by Lord Roberts, and a review of the colonial troops by the Queen, besides a tom through part of London on the first Coronation morning, showing the decoration at Buckingham Palace, some of the archei -in the City, and -the activity of London , on that morning. The pictures presented .last night' were perfectly clear, and the projection was so sharp as to make every figure as distinct as in, life. The figures of Lord Roberta reviewing cadets and presenting prizes, of the Queen reviewing; colonial troops and bowing graciously from her carriage, and of. many others known tc fame, were easily distinguishable from-th< rest of the huge crowds in the pictures. The naval review at "Spithead was admirable depicted, and the procession of soldiers of all climes along the street and the military review in Hyde Park were splendid representations. The films on the _ whole give a very good idea of what took place in England at the historic time, and i are well worthy of being seen. They will be shown every night till farther notice. On Saturday Mr Dix will introduce to a Hnnedin audience for the first time the Irish comedians Callahan and Mack. These arthts have obtained a great name in Australia, and it is anticipated that they will ;be a« great a success here. They appear first in a humorous playlet entitled ‘The Old Neighborhood?
