Play was resumed in line weather; the wicket was good, and the attendance moderate. Wheldon added 4 to his overnight score, then Darling took an easy I catch at mid-on. Two for 50. R. Foster ; succumbed to a bailer Jones, after a short stay. Three for 52. Foster accounted for Gregory, making a catch at extra midoff. Four for 65. One ran later Arnold's useful stand ended, Noble disturbing his I bails by a beautiful leg break. The retiring batsman had played steady cricket. Five for 65. Lowe and Hayward became associated, and brought up the century before Noble bowled Lowe. Six for 101. Wilson succeeded, only to be caught by Hopkins at long-field in the same over that had proved j fatal to Lowe, the score being unaltered. j Hayward's downfall came through playing i Armstrong on. Fight for 130. Bird jo'ined Cankrodger, who was plavicg nice free cricket. Armstrong proved too good for the newcomer, who retired with 2 to his credit Nine for 140. Worcester's sting proved to bo in the tail. The last wicket provided the best cricket of the innings, and put on 62 runs in forty minutes. Burrows ablv seconded Cankrodger in keeping the fie'd moving. When Caukrodger had made 59 Duff ended his career and the innings by a catch behind the stumps.
