Tbe display is not on a lavish scale, the Government effort being confined to the principal Federal and some State buildings. The chief features at S *drey are the Post Office and Customs House. The former presented a magnificent spectacle, the tower being festooned from base to summit with thousands of fairy arc lamps. The Moore street frontage Iwd scrolls of colored lamps and a design in immense letters, “Commonwealth Greeting! Long live the King! ” A few banks, large business firms, and all the newpaper offices were tastefully illuminated, some with most artistic designs, the. most prevalent being crowns and the King’s monogram; but, unlike the Commonwealth celebrations, tbe 1 great majority made no show. So far as I Sydney is concerned, not a great deal of interest is being taken. The unsettled weather was an adverse factor, and there were little more than the usual crowds in the streets.
