Tress Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.' ; LONDON, July 10. .‘‘The lopes’ states that it is believed that the Coronation will take place on August 9.. ,■ ‘ SYDNEY, July 10, The various State capitals to-night are carrying out the proposed Coronation illummations.The demonstrationis popularly accepted more in the shape of rejoicing at the King 1 s -recovery. Tbe display is not on a lavish scale, the Government effort being confined to the principal Federal and some State buildings. The chief features at S *drey are the Post Office and Customs House. The former presented a magnificent spectacle, the tower being festooned from base to summit with thousands of fairy arc lamps. The Moore street frontage Iwd scrolls of colored lamps and a design in immense letters, “Commonwealth Greeting! Long live the King! ” A few banks, large business firms, and all the newpaper offices were tastefully illuminated, some with most artistic designs, the. most prevalent being crowns and the King’s monogram; but, unlike the Commonwealth celebrations, tbe 1 great majority made no show. So far as I Sydney is concerned, not a great deal of interest is being taken. The unsettled weather was an adverse factor, and there were little more than the usual crowds in the streets. MELBOURNE, July 11. . chief Federal buildings were brilliantly illuminated, otherwise the display was very moderate, a similar condition of affairs prevailing in the other capitals. BRISBANE, July 11. A grand fireworks’ display and the illuminations will be repeated for the remaining nights of the week.
