(Received July 11, at 9.39 a.m.) The Worcester match opened in showery ■weather, but ■with an easy wicket. Pearson was omitted from the home team, and Tremble, Tjumper, and Kelly from the Australians. The visitors batted first. Day and Hopkins opening. Hopkins was caught by Cankrodger at the wicket when he had compiled 23. One.for 43. Hill succeeded, and the new partnership was characterised by lively play. It lasted forty-five minutes, and added 74 to the score. Hill was the first to gb, being bowled by Burrows. Two tor 107. Further rain and the luncheon interval delayed resumption of play till three o’clock. The batsmen continued to severely punish the bowling, and the score mounted rapidly. Duff had reached 90 when he was bowled by Wilson with a beautiful ball. He was 130 minutes at the wickets, and played faultless cricket. His score included eight fourers. Noble p&yed a sound game.

Five The wicket was drying, and becoming difficult. Noble then lifted one to P. Foster. He had played a sterling innings. Six for 227. Carter joined Armstrong, .but Bird got him for a single. Seven for 257. Jones was next, and commenced merrily. He hit four cuccessive balls, prior to the one that scattered his stumps, to the boundary. Eight for 270. Armstrong kept pegging along qnietly.
