The Senate has reduce! the dunes on rails and other iron used in the construe ion of railways, rolled iron, steel beams, and girders to 10 per cent. MELBOURNE, July 10. (Received July 10, at 9.55 a.m.) The Senate got into a tangle over the proposed bonuses on products of the iron industry. By 11 to 12 Senators negatived the proposal to strike out the clause that proviso duties should come into operation on the dates fixed by proclamation after the industries had been estab ished, plate and sheet galvanised iron being exemptei. Then by 11 to 10 they placed galvanised iron on the free list. Reaps rs and binders and of er machinery covered by the introductory proviso and wire netting were also placid on the free list. Iron pipes were passed with a duty of 10 per cent.
