Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, July 9. In the House of Commons, the debate on the Secondary Education B 11 was continued. Mr Balfour accepted an amendment prohibiting the teaching, of the Catechism cr other distinctive formula-in schools, colleges, and other similar institutions provided for. out of the funds. Lord Hugh Cecil and Lord Percy protested against the concession, the former criticising Mr Balfour's conduct of the Bill. The House, by 181 to 155, negatived an amendment to the effect that no teachers be compelled as a condition of employment to declare their religious belief.
