A movement is afoot in Johannesburg to form political associations, also a volunteer corps association from the members of the irregular regiments. TTMARU'S GRAND BALL. A ball in honor of the returned members of the Sixth and Seventh Contingents wm held in the lar jest store in Timaru last night The room was beautifully decorated for the occasion, and the ball was a great success, 2,000 persons being present, a considerable proportion in fancy dress. At thfl outset the Mayor (Mr Crai<rie), in a formal sp€«ch, welcomed the troopers, and later presented the medals and clasps awarded to tho Timaru district men.
