~T h, r, eighteenth annua! genarai meeting of toe library subscribers was held in the reading room last evening, Mr E. Farrant presiding. Tho secretary's report and balance-sheet showed the library to be in a flonrishing condition, although it is a matter for regret that Tuoza of the employes do not avail themselves of its advantages- There are S2B subscribers. The receipts for the year amounts to £97 Is 3d, and iho expenditure fco £B4 Is M. leaving a balance of £l2 19s lid. There are 3,553 books, of which 433 have been addej chirjng the year, at a cost of £59 12s 7<L The leading English and American scientific and engineering papers are regularly supplied, also the English and colonial weeklies. The annual election of officers resulted as Toilers :—President, Mr S. P. Evans (workshop manager); vice-presidents, Messrs R. Fa•.ranf and J. Carson- secretary, Mr T. W. Stctharfc-, treasurer, Mr G.
