BIBLE TALK.
In the course of Mr Come Johnston’s Bible talk last night he introduced the illustration of a divine surprise party as being the manner of the surpassing greatness of God’s power in bringing blessing to men dead in sins. God works with what He brings, not with what He finds with man. At the hour the speaker took the p.atfonn there were a mere handful of people in the Trades Hall. He waited a little, then gave out the hymn ‘Simply trusting,’ and after prayer and reading and a talk illustrating dispensation truth by a diagram hung at the back of the platform the peopje came in, till there was a fair meet.ng The Bible talk began with some remarks upon the prayer in the context that the “ eyes of their hearts might be enlightened in the full knowledge of Christ.” Then, rising to his theme of ‘The Surpassing Greatness of God’s Power,’ creation and the deliverance from Egypt were passed in review. Then came the account of the resurrection of Christ, and His. being placed above all power and dominion on the throne. At the clone it was put to the meeting whether the Alhambra Theatre should be taken for Sunday. This was heartily agreed to for Sunday afternoon, and in the evening from eight to nine. It was also stated that there would be four meetings in the Trades Hall next week, the subjects for these meetings being advertised.
