SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.
The Otago School Commissioners mei this morning, (hero being present Meesm Baldey (in the chair), MacQibbon, Dallas, and Borne. An apology was received from Mr D. Barron, who was absent on business. An objection to the proposed cutting of an outfall ditch throagn section 35, mock 15, Jacob’s River Hundred, was received from B. Baird, the lessee, who stated that an outfall could be obtained by the WsSmumu channel.—lt was resolved that Mr Baldey report on the matter. It was resolved, on the suggestion of the Southland agent, that a fee of 2s 6d be charged on all transfers over £2O. After considering and receiving a report from th) 3 secretary on the agricultural holdings in Clutha, Kaitangata, Hillend, Aka*, toa, Table Hill, Mangatoa, WaikonaltL Moeraki, Otepopo, Tuapeka, Oamaxu, and Papakaoi, the matter of appointing persons to act as load inspectors of grass seed to be used on the Commissioners’ properties was held over for consideration. It was resolved to draw the attention of the warden to the fact that a section in Waikaia ((319 acres) had not been brought under the Mining Act, although a prospecting license over the area had oeen applied for. „ The lessee of sections 22 and 20, blow *♦, Maungatua (Mr Moynihan), appeared at the meeting, and complained that the Otakia Drainage Board had erected a dam which threatened to run water on his leasehold, and he asked the Commissioners to assist him in preventing the threatened damage.—The Commissioners resolved to instruct their solicitors to protect their interests in the matter. A number of transfers of leases and mortgages were approved.
