SOUTH DUNEDIN AGAIN.

TO THE EHITOII. Sir-1 would like to ask. through your QolmnnH what the South Dunedin Borough Council and the rate leavers of South Dunedin are thinking of in allowing matters to go on as they are. It appears to mo that the mayor and councillors are dominated by one man (an ex-mayor), who intends making an effort to again monopolise the mayoral chair. If the councillor, instead of having the paths asphalted (at the ratepayers’ expense) around his particular friends’ properties, in disregard of the claims of older ratepayers, were to spend a little of his superfluous energy in having the abominable nuisance of overhanging trees an dhedges attended to ho would give more satisfaction, and perhaps catch an extra vote or two at the forthcoming mayoral election. I assure you, sir. it iu unsafe to walk the streets of South

1 Dunedin th«e dwk nights without having your clothes tom or being struck in the face by overhanging hedges or trees. H the councillor referred to and the “■ sanitary” inspector attended to these matters, instead of wasting the ratepayers' money, they would be more appreciated. The ratepayers should wake up and elect a council who will not be ruled by one man. Caversham and St. Kilda are going ahead. Why? Decause they have men of calibre in their council*, and not men who will be at the beck and call of any one of their number.—l am, etc., Ratepatpb. April 8.
