THE COURTS.-TO-DAY.
WARDEN’S COURT. (Before E. 11. Carcw, Esq., district warden.) The adjourned application of the City Corporation for a license for a water race cm the Taieri River came on for hearing at the Warden’s Court this morning. Subsidiary races wore also applied for under three other applications,—Mr Chapman said that Mr Husking, who represented the Taieri County Council, had submitted certain conditions to him which appeared to he in the public interest,, and which the Corporation would accept. He had no objection to the same endorsement on all the applications.—Mr Hosting submitted a rough copy of the conditions, which provided, among other things, that the Corporation were to make no excavations interfering with any road, bridge, etc., and that the Corporation were to he answerable for any damage that might be done. Mr Hosking mentioned that there were several other bodies in the district who might wish to urge their claims in a similar direction. — Mr Chapman replied that the Corporation wore willing to deal with all public bodies. They would be answerable. —Mr Carew: If you draw up the conditions, and both parties sign them, I will grant the application, subject to those conditions, —The matter was then ordered to stand oyer until to-morrow morning, to allow of this being done. £5 5s costs were allowed the County Council.
