Y.M.C.A. HARRIERS.

The first general meeting of the Young Aten’s Christian Association Harriers vas held last evening. Mr T. Cuttle presided, and there were about twenty present, including several members of the Dunedin Harriers, who attended by invitation. The Chairman said that as an outcome of former meetings there was every promise of a healthy and vigorous club being formed. He outlined the general work. of a Harrier Club, and impressed on members the necessity of giving whole-hearted support to the movement. Rules and regulations, drawn up by a committee appointed for that purpose, were adopted, and the following officebearers appointed:—Captain, Mr W. Hanna : deputy-captain, Mr R. Kilroy: secretary and treasurer, Air Stanley Alirams; Committee—Messrs Davie, Bnmard, Shaw, Kerens, Gilmour, and Jackson. Mr W. L. Hooper (president of the Dunedin Harriers) urged the formation of a Harrier Club. On behalf of the Dunedin and St. Andrew Harriers, and also of himself, be congratulated the Y.M.C.A. riers on their advent, and wished them a long and prosperous career. Air R. J. Jackson (founder of the Dunedin Hamers) and Air George Moreton (captain) supported Air Hooper in extending hearty congratulations to the newlyformed chib, the former jointing out that the Y-ALC.A. were practically the backbone of athletics in England at the present dav. U was decided that the club’s colors be dark blue, with a Light blue band over the shoulder; and the opeiaag ran was fixed, for Saturday, April 19, commencing at St. Clair, in conjunction with the Dunedin Hamers. Mr Hooper said lie would be glad to have the members as his guests, along with the Dunedin Harriers, on Saturday next, the 12th inst. General regret was expressed at tire early departure from Dunedin of Air T. Cuttle, who bad been most active regarding the formation of a Harrier Club, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to him. Votes of thanks were also accorded to Air W. L. Hooper and the members of the Dunedin Harriers present. Severl new members outside of the Association were elected.
