QUEENSLAND DESPERADOES.
THE HUNT FOR THE KENNETHS.
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.
BRISBANE, April 4.
Over forty armed police are searching for the Kenneths (or Kennifs), who are known to be armed with revolvers, and splendid shots. A stockman found Dalke's and Doyle's spurs and pouches, and a lot of blood about near where there had been a large fire. They subsequently saw a fire in. the ranges, supposed to be the Kenneths' camp. The. country there is very difficult. Two station managers whom the Kenneths threatened to kill have asked for protection. It appears that the Kenneths formerly leased 1,000 acres of the Carnarvon Station, and accumulated a herd of 1,000 cattle, alleged to be by crooked means. When Dalke became manager of Carnarvon Station he cleared them oat. They settled on the Meteor Downs Station, and were several times before the Court for horsestealing and " faking " brands. Last month they were fined £4O for travelling stock without a permit. This maddened them, and they decided to take to the road, and threatened vengeance. They raided Merivale Station, and stuck up a Chinaman and a contractor. A black tracker states that Dalke and poyle met the* three Kenneths and caught one after a chase. The two others returned and opened fire. The tracker, after seeing Dalke fall from his horse, galloped off, the Kenneths pursuing him. He returned when they had gone, and found blood and other s%ns of a desperate encounter.
BRISBANE, April 5, (Received April 5, at 10 a.m.)
There is great excitement in the districts where the Kenneths are out. The supposition is that after shooting Dalke they jjhofc Doyle, and carried off the bodies on pack horses. A companion of the Kenneths has been arrested.
