Mr E. Towsey, who has just severed his conr#ction with St. Martin's Church as organist and choirmaster, was on Monday evening last made the recipient of a walnut and silver inkstand from the adult members of the choir. The choir boys also made Mr Towsey a present of a silver-mounted pouch arid cigarette-holder. Mr Milward, who made the presentation, expressed tiro regret of the donors at Mr Towsey's retirement. Mr J. T. Mackerras has been re-elected chairman of the Finance Committee of the Harbor Board for the current year. An Auckland message says that Mr Maxwell Walker, 8.A., has been appointed lecturer in modern languages at Auckland College. A Svdney message states that Mrs George Rignold is dead.
