ESTIMATES FOR THE YEAR, £31,255,000. NAVAL VOLUNTEERS. Press Association —By Telegraph Copyright. LONDON, February 15. The Navy Estimates provide for £31,255,000, which will permit of all arrears in construction being overtaken. The new construction proposed absorbs £9.058,000, providing for two battleships, two armored and two third class cruisers, four scouts (of a new type, a sort of naval galloper), nine destroyers, four torpedo boats, and four submarires, with an increase in personnel of 3,875 officer's and men. Twenty-five of the present ships wiH he fitted with modern armaments; naval volunteers are to be re-established, and sailingship trailing will be abandoned. There are to be no mameuvres in British waters, hut a combined movement on the part of the Mediterranean and Channel cruiser squadrons. The future comuositior of the Australasian squadron will be discussed when the colonial Premiers arrive in England for the Coronation. [The estimate for 1901-02 was £31.964,973 gross and £30,875.500 net.]
