Lefroy (Westralia) have asked the War Office, if it were impossible to limit the contract to colorial meat, to keep a sharp look-out for the source and origin of all supplies, and to furnish monthly • statements promptly informing the colonies if any alleged Australasian supplies were insufficient. The War Office officials express their extreme desire that Australasia shall obtain the bulk of the supplies, and promise a stringent inspection. The Agent s-Gene-ral have been asked to furnish their requests in writing.
