ROWING. A Committee meeting of the Otago Rowing Association was held last evening in the D.C.C. rooms, Mr F. W. Mitchell in the chair. Mr Jay’s resignation at* secretary was accepted with regret, and Mr Win.' L. Hooper was elected unanimously to the vacant position. It was filially decided to hold the A-ssociation’s annual regatta at Waihola on Easter Saturday, and the following programme was approved:—Maiden, Junior, and Senior Fours. Double Eculls, Fairs, Ladies’ Plate (for senior oarsmen,),‘Youths’Fours, aud six swimming events, including the over-popu-lar greasy poke The secretary reported that the * Railway Department was striving by every means in its power to promote tlw regatta by cheap fares and fast special trains. It was proposed to hold a monster smoke conceit at the cud of the season, at which all the clubs and) the Association would combine, and at wliich all prizes won by our oarsmen, whether in regalia or club races, would be presented, •

The final of the eight-oar tournament was got off last evening. The water, although smooth inside the wharves, proved to be particularly rough at the starting {>ost, and the starter got a duckinrr. The two boats raced pretty well together till halfway, when the Dabs’ boat shipped a large amount of water, causing it to drag. The Queen’s Drive boat, however, was ir, the same predicament; so that neither crew lost mnch on that account. Entering the wharves the Queen's Drive forged ahead of .their opponent s, and won a splendid race bv a length. Cheers havinu been given on noth sides, the men lost no time in getting into dry clothes again, one and all being glad the race was finished. Mr L. Wilson acted as jndge. The crews were as follow: —

Queen's Drive Club—C, Rraithwaite (stroke), D. M'Donald (7). W. Porter (6), T.'White (5), J. M'Dorald (4), S. Hawes (3), R, Anderson (2), A. Johnston (how), R. Sullivan (cox) ... 1 D.A.B. Club—J. Williams (stroke), J. Mitchell (7), S. Abrim (6). W. Olson (5), A. Watson (41, J. Conroy (31, D. ’Fraser (2), J. Stables (bow), R. (cox) 2

Arrangements are well forward for the visit to Wanganui of the Australasian champion swimmers, and special accommodation has been arranged at the baths. The secretary has been directed to arrange a conference of polo players to amend the existing polo rules. Entries are coming in well, and everything points to a great meeting. Anotlier meeting in support of the movement to form a bowling clnb at the r»rth end of the town ba-s been convened for next Tuesday evening, at the North Dunedin Drill Hall. San Remo, Knight Errant, and Field Battery have not changed hands. As Mr Stead must have room at Yaldhurst for his yearlings, be has instructed that these three-year-olds be sold at 600, 400, and 500 guineas respectively. If not disposed of previously they will he sold at public auction .after tbeC.J.C. autumn meeting.

She: “ I am sure, Mr Goodby, there are many girls who could main you far happier than I could.” He: “That's-the trouble; they could, ..but fchty won’t."
