THE PRICE OF BREAD.
TO THE BI>ITOB. Sir,—-r have read with very great interest the letters in reference to the price of flour and the matter of the milliig cambiiie, as published in your columns «taring the past week. T urn in no way connected with the Northern Roller Milling Company, but " fair play is bonny play," arid as a partner in one of the largest baking concerns in Auckland can positive]v assert that our firm purchased Southern floor at £6 10s 6d, delivered! into store at Auckland, not more than a, mouth ago, the ageu being willing, subject to confirmation, to contract at that price. In passing 1 might here state that for years past Southern flour has been offered at lower rates than the price of the local mills in Auckland. As regards the rale 20 controversy. I can ateo verify Mr M'Rlashan's statement, brrt might here suggest to that gentleman that perhaps, as the'Trnst have different prices for different towns, the rules are also varied to suit rhe case, though rule 7, admitted by "Miolner." seerrw to my mind to cover the same'power'as the one queried in the Auckland list. T enclose my card as guarantee of my bona fides, and am. etc., Fair Pt,at. February 14.
