PRICE OF FLOUR AND BREAD.
TO TEK EDtTOB. Sir, —Mr L. W. M'Qlasnan, in reply to " Miolner," states that he is not in Dunedin to discuss bakers' busmess, and yet he makes a lot of rash statements in total ignorance of the subject he is talking about, charging the bakers of Dune dm by implication with fleecing t&e pnblic and making' an unfair profit. It would be quite useless to continue a discussion with one who has shown himself so ignorant of the subject, and of the conditions of the baking and milling trade here, and so careless of his facts. The reason why Southern mfflers are selling flour in Auckland at a loss must be evident to the most saperfieial thinker, and I hope that they wifl fight to a finish, and thus put an end to this ruinous cutthroat competition. Neither bakers nor millers run their business in the interests of the public, and Southern people are not such fools as to believe that Mr M'Glasban is here, as he states, in the interests at the bread-winners. He is down here on behalf of has employers, and for no other purpose. —I am, etc., Miolneb. February 13.
