Lord Onslow, speaking in Parliament, said that the fortifying garrison at Weihaiwei bad abandoned their- present position, which, however, could be userj as a sanatorium, and would cor.iinue to be useful. It is a valuable concession, and the Colonial Office will administer it. Lord Selborne said that the change was due to considerations of naval strategy, but the position was still valuable as a naval base.
