The Governor, referring to Australia's «tefences, advises the Commonwealth to obtain from the Admiralty the ban of some fairly modern ships and modern armaments, so that Australians can go to sea and be tangtrt gunnery. He thinks that an equivalent sum spent in training Australian seamen on larger ships will be foend a more valuable contribution to the Commonwealth than the sum at present devoted to .the aux&aiy s^aadnoa.
