STATE DIGNITY.

AUSTRALIA NOT RECONCILED TO FACTS. Press Association—By T«degrapb—Copyright LONDON, February 3. (Received February 4, at 9.31 a.m.) Sir H. Tozer, interviewed on the question of the subordination of the State Premiers at the coronation ceremonies, declared that any attempt to subordinate the State Governors to the Governor-General by sending reports through the latter would be equally against the wishes of Australia. MR PfflLP BITTER. AN ILL-ADVISED MANIFESTO. PREFERS MR SEDDON TO MR BARTON. BRISBANE, February 4. (Received February 4, at 10 a.m.) The Premier has issued a manifesto in view of the General Election. He asserts that the actions of the Commonwealth 'n neatly every State have so bitterly disappointed the advocates of union that perhaps most of them would be glad to see the union dissolved. He points out the necessity for the State Governments to keep intact the powers secured to them and to resist all attempts to abridge them, and to refuse any invitation of the Imperial Government to surrender the least of them. Referring to the status of the Premiers at the coronation, he would refuse to accept the conditions attached, which really amount to going under Mr Barton’s patronage. He would sooner go under Mr Seddon’s patronage. He differs from Mr See (New South Wales Premier), because he can see no reason why Mr Seddon should not get a special invitation. He believes that Mr Seddon, from what be had done for the Mother Country, is more entitled to special recognition than Mr Barton. MR BARTON TO MR PHTLP.
