A London editor has been investigating the rate at which various English author;-: compose. According to him Robert Barr, T. Frankfort Moore, and W. L. Alden write 4,000 words a day; “ John .Strange Winter” writes from 3,000 to 4,000, and Dr Conan Doyle half as much; Max Pemberton writes 1.500 words a day, and William Le Quex about the same number. Mr Crockett has done as much as 5,000 words a day, while Mrs Craigie rarely exceeds 150 words a day.
