Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Dunedin, subject to any necessary alterations, as under:— Overland, North, daily, 10.20 a.m. Late letters, 10.46; also on the mail van up to 11 a.m., Books and newspapers, 10 a.m. Late-fee letters must bear, in addition to the ordinary postage, Id. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6. For Northern Ports.—Per Westralia, at 1 p.m. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7. For Australian States (except Tasmania). -Per North express (to connect with the Westralia), at 10 a.m. NOTE. A post office is now open at Barewood, Otago Central. Mails despatched and received daily. The public are reminded that the postage on newspapers for the United Kingdom, Queensland, and foreign countries is Id for the first 4oz, and for each additional 2oz; and unless newspapers are fully prepaid the department cannot guarantee to forward them by the quickest routes. Tho Papanui will leave Wellington for London via Monte Video and Teneriffe on the 6th, at 10 a.m. Correspondence to be specially addressed. Mails for Rarotonga and Tahiti close at Auckland on the 25th, at 4 p.m. Mails for Fiji close at Auckland on the 26th, at 11 a.m. E. Cook, Chief Postmaster.
