It would be a blessing for these (South American) Republics themselves, and for the world, no doubt, if the United States could take them over and administer them. In the end that is what will probably happen, but that end is certainly not yet. The areas of these countries are so vast and undeveloped, and their papulations so turbulent and impossible, that the burden of taking them over, even with their own consent and the airproval of Europe, would be stunendous. —‘ Express.’
