A HOTEL FIRE.

CHUISTCHURCH, February 3.

Early this morning a fire occurred in the Criterion Hotel, Gloucester street The place was gutted by the time the flames were suppressed, and very little was saved. The building Avas insured far £SOO in the Standard and £SOO in the London an 1 Liverpool and Globe. The total insurance on the furniture, nothing of which war> saved, was £350.

The Criterion Role' was one of those to which a license was granted in June last on the understanding that it was completely rebuilt. It was stipulated that tiie plans for the new buildings must be submitted to the Committee in March, othervise no license would be granted at the June meeting.
