The Woodbride (Suffolk) Urban District Council have resorted to a novel means of preventing accidents at dangerous street corners. Three roads in the authority's district meet at awkward angles, and collisions between vehicles have been rather common. Widening by demolition of house property being impossible, the surveyor recommended the erection of mirrors- By this means drivers can see through brick walls, so to speak, and the experiment has proved successful. A meeting of the High School Board of Governors was held this afternoon, when there were present —Dr Brown (m the chair), Dr Sband, Rev. P. B. Fraser. and Messrs J. B. Sinclair, T. K. Sidey, M.H.8., and G. L. Denniston (mayor). Correspon. dence was dealt with. Our report is held over. On going into the office of the Shale Works on the 26th ult. the manager (M» Dunlop) found that some persons had entered during the night, with the evident intention of appropriating any cash that might be about. The thieves had entered by a back room window, and, after getting into the manager's room, had taken the tul from the desk djrawer. As there was only 13a in it the burglars did not get muck for their pains, although they overlooked some pound notes in an envelope whit* bad been thrown aside. There is no ci» to the culprits.-—The 'Orenuki Afa«Btftl.'
