DEPARTURE OF THE EIGHTH.

The troopship Surrey is to leave Wellington at four o'clock to-morrow afternoon, and is expected to get away from Auckland on Saturday evening. She will call at Sydney and Albany, and finally land the meu at Durban.

The Cornwall, with the South Island battalion of fclie Eighth, is expected to leave Lvttelton on Wednesday of next week, and will go direct to Albany, probably arriving there about the same time as the Surrey. Colonel Davies, with his stall', will oe passengers by the Surrey. APPOINTMENT OF CHAPLAINS. We are informed that the Premier has intimated to the Rev. D. Button that a chaplain will be appointed to the Eighth Contingent. The Chaplain Committee of the Dunedin Presbytery are asking for 1 similar appointment to the Ninth Contingent. ,„,
