LONDON, January 22. The Chinese Government have explained that the firing by Chinese soldiers trpon the British steamer Nannmg on the West River, resulting in a passenger being wounded, was accidental, and was done while the Chinese soldiers w«re arresting robbers, whose dead bodies have been produced in proof. The explanation has been accepted.
