THE WOOL SALES.
Dalgety and Co. report having received the following cable from their bead office, dated London, 21st inst.:—" Wool sales opened. Very large attendance of bttyen, fair selection, competition animated. Prices for finest merino v wools 2£ per cent, higher, other descriptions merino wools 5 per cent higher, fine cross-bred wools 5 per cent, higher, other descriptions cross-bred wools sto 10 per cent, higher. The demand is f chiefly for greasy cross-bred wools of h»trous description." Fine-haired memoes showed to greatest advantage during Sep-tember-October series, and consequently <V» not show tie same percentage rise this series as the coarser wools, which have been selling at such low prices in London. The percentage rises quoted in the above cablegram work out as follow:—Pine merino wools, id per lb higher than NovemberDecember rates; all other merino wools, £d do do; good fine cross-bred wools, Id do do; medium and inferior fine cross-bred wools, -Jd do do; medium and strong quality cross-bred wools, other than lustrous sorts, id do do; clear, rastro*s and strong cross-breds, salt" able for Amend-, id, $d do <fc.
