NAPIER, January 21. The police returns show an increase of 72 cases of drunkenness in the East Coast plice district during the year, the figures being 563, as Against 491.
GISBORNE, January 21.
The first district conference of the Farmers' Union was held this afternoon, Mr Glass (secretary) and a large number of delegates attending. Great interest is being .manifested in the water and drainage vote to-morrow.
