THE NEW COMMANDANT
[Special to thb Stab.] WELLINGTON, July 11. Major and Brevet-colonel St; George Charles Henry, the new Commandant (late of tho Northumberland Fusileers), served with the fourth column of Mounted Infantry in tho South African campaign, and throughout the Soudan expedition under Lord Kitchener. He was made brevetcolonel on the 14th March, 1900 ; mentioned in despatches, getting the Khedive’s clasp, in 1897. In the London ‘Gazette’ of April 16 last it is stated that he has repeatedly shown to advantage as a leader of men, and as the commanding officer of the fourth column Mounted Infantry he has done excellent work. On April 19 he was created C.B. The appointment is for three years, at £7OO per annum.'
