Mr C. Rogers was the recipient of a handsome marble clock from the employes of the ‘New Zealand Tablet’ on the occasion of his marriage. Mr Murray (the manager), in making the presentation on behalf of the employes, congratulated Mr Rogers on his entering into a new sphere of life, and wished him every prosperity. The recipient said bo was more than pleased with such a. handsome present from his fellowworkmates. and expressed the pleasure of working among them for such a long time. Commandant Booth reaches Dunedin by the express this evening, and will be greeted' by a hearty " volley ” from the members of the Salvation Army, many of whom have come into town from North Otago and Southland for the purpose of joining in the welcome. The Commandant’s only public engagements are his lecture at the Garrison Hall to-morrow evening and at the Agricultural Hall on Sunday. Lord and Lady Lamington, family, and suite leave by the Aorangi for England via Canada on the 21st inst. Mr A. Marshall, who has been connected with the teaching staff of the Mosgiel School for the past twelve years, and as assistant master for the past three years, has sent m his resignation separately to the Education Board and to the Mosgiel School Committee. The ' Advocate ’ states that Mr Marshall intends eventually to enter the legal profession. At the warehouse of Messrs Laidlaw and Gray last evening Mr A. GaJland, head storeman, was presented on the eve of his marriage with a cheque and set of table cutlery by the firm, and a. handsome marble clock and purse of sovereigns from his fel-low-employes. Mr Gray made the presentation on behalf of the firm, and Mr Tonkin for the employes. Mr Galland suitably replied. Trccper James Gray, a member of the Foi.nli Contingent, was welcomed home at a great social at Blue Spur, and presented by the miners with a gold albert and peud.mc ;n recognition of his services at the front. GISBORNE, June 5. Mr Mentiplay, secretary of the Northern Bowling Association, who was married this afternoon to Miss Ferris, of Gisborne, was presented at the bowling green - this forenoon with a handsome marble clock and a purse of sovereigns, subscribed by members of the Association throughout the North Island. The presentation was made by Mr Matthewson, vice-president of the Association.
