The quartet contest yesterday resulted thus : Wangauui (125 points) 1," Woodville (105 points) 2, Woodville No. 2 (94 points)

The. marching competition was witnessed by a large crowd. The results were : Wanganui Garrison—Music 76, marching 288; total. 564. Woodville—Music 66, marching '269; total, 555. New Plymouth—Music 66, marching 265 ; total, 531. Palmerston North—Music 66, marching 259 ; total, 325. Ma-stcrton—Music 74. marchiug 248: total, 522. Petone—Music 75. marching 244 ; total, 519. •

The contest concluded last, evening. The following is the result of the test selection, ' I Purilani' : —Championship : M r anganui, 357; Master-ton (disqualified), 555; Petone, 517: New Plvmouth. 506: Palmerston. o05: Woodville,* 288.

Til ere was a great crowd at the Wanganui Opera-house, and the contest was altogether most successful.
