The Imperial Hotel. Oamaru, was on Saturday offered at- auction. The house and furniture were first submitted, and withdrawn at- £3.170. and the house and license alone bern? offered they were knocked down to Messrs Lee and Grave, acting as agents for Mrs M. Parker, late of Peebles Hotel, at £2,820. THE LONDON MARKETS. WELLINGTON. March 4. The Agricultural Department has received the following cable from the. Agent-Genera], dated 3rd March:—"Butter. 100s; demand good. New Zealand butter is giving satisfaction to buyer?. Cheese, 50s ; market dull. Consider that the prices for cheese are likely to improve.. Hemp market verv firm ; good, fair IV.X., £23 10?. Auction sales this week closed with, strong demand. Cocksfoot, nominal." GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORTS. Messrs A. Moritzson and Co. report having held their usual weekly sale of grain and produce,'when prices ruled as follow: Oats.—The demand is fairly active, but prices are rather easier. We sold : Best feed, Is 5d to Is sjd ; medium and inferior. Is Id to Is 4Jjd; milling, Is 6d per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat.—There is a good steady inquiry for all prime lines of oid wheat from 2s 6d t-o 2s 7^d: medium and inferior, however, •are slow of sale from 2s 3d t-o 2s 5d : fowl feed is in short supply, and best brings up to 2s 2d per bushel "(terms, sacks in, less 2j per cent.). Potatoes.—There is a steady sale for prime Derwent from £5 to £5 7s 6d ; kidnevs, £4 7s 6d to £4 15s per ton. Chaff.—The only sale is for prime quality, which sold up to'£2 10s per ton ; medium and inferior sorts were verv hard to place from £1 10s to £2 5s per ton.
