THE HEAVIEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD.
The heaviest married couple in lhe world weigh just 1,202 pounds, or nearly half a ton, between them. The astonished reader must not run away with the idea that because these two people are so weighty thev are necessarily old; on the contrary, they have youth on their side—and fat! Mr Chauncey Morland, the husband, is only twenty-eight years of age, and weighs 74<? pounds avoirdupois, his height being 5 feet 10 inches. Compared with him his wife is a veritable fairy, weighing only 454 pouni??. but. then, the reader must know that f-he is just one foot taller than her lord and master, being a giantess of 6 feet 10 inches in stature. Besides, she is quite young—only twenty-five years—so' that there is plenty of time yet for her to grow. la 1898 tifs interesting couple appeared before the Czar and Czarina of Russia at Nishni Norgorod, and have altogether spent seven years in touring Europe. They enjoy robust health, and its usual accompaniment—jovial temperament—Montreal 'Witness.'

Lord Salisbury, as Lord Privy Seal, is to have £2,000 a year, the salary which was abolished in 1884 being revived for his benefit. It is thought to be a bad precedent for a Cabinet Minister Ho have no salary. v
