Mr Alexander Jamea M'Gregor, Mayor of Akaroa, who repreßented Akaroa in tho House of Representatives from 1887 toISOO, died yesterday. The deceased acted as junior whip to the Atkinson Ministry during Mb term in Parliament.

Mr Seddon was presented with an address by New Zaaianders resident in Brisbane. He "as to leave that city this morniug for Sydney. Colonel J. M. Gordon, Commandant of the South Australian Forces, has applied for the command of the Australian Federal Brigade in the event of the contingents now baing formed by the several States being brought into such &d organisation, Mr John Horrax, who has done muoh to improve the breed of dogs in New Zealand, and who has been a prominent exhibitor at the various Kennel Club shows in the colony, has left Wellington in order to enter upon a country life.
