The Aotea has put out about 900 tons of cargo at the Gfeorge street pier. The- Janet NicoH is being overhauled at Port Chalmers, and is expected to boTecommissioned in time to sail for the-West Coast on January 3. The inclemency of the weather at Lyttelton during the palst few days has-camsed the detention of the TeSoa there, and she consequently will not arrive at Port Chalmers until Tuesday. She -will commence-on Wednesday morning to take on board frozen produce for London. The Westland had taken on board about 1,800 bales of wool up to this afternoon. Captain Samuels expects to bo able to load about 6,300 bates this trip. It is expected that the Westland will get away about the 20th of January. She proceeds' from the latter port to Wanganui, where she loads iron for Dunedin. The Westland shipped four hands in Wellington for the trip to Dunedin, and the act of these men in signing on for £7 for the journey was disapproved of by a number of unemployed seamen, who stuck out for £8 for the trip. A free fight was beginning when the four men emerged from the shipping office, and they would have been severely maltreated if the police had not put in a timely appearance. Captain Samuels estimates that fully a hundred men were, concerned. One oiE the new hands, a colored man, was struck on the jaw with a billet of wood. Three or four hands have been shipped by the Westland in Dunedin.
