BRIEF MENTION.
Two men named Anderson (brothers) wer<, arrested at Timaru on Friday on a oharjrt of assaulting and robbing two men in Donedln on Sunday night, July 29. A third man named Bowling Smith, alleged to hav« been concerned in the affair, was arrested on the same day at Roxburgh, and will bv brought to Dunedin to appear at the Police Court with the Anderson brothers on Wednesday. An escort from Danedin will meet the latter at Studholme Junction to-morrow on the arrival of the express. Valette, the Anarchist arrested for an alleged attempt- on the life of the Shah or Ptnia, has I tin discharged. The New South Wales Government recently ordered several 4.7 in guns and Vickers-Maxims and a new field battery of ls-pounders to replace the one sent to the Cape. They will arrive in three weeks. Mr Copeland, Agent-General for New South Wales, in the course of an interview, •uttered a strong warning against Mr Rhodeß's scheme of intr6ducing Chinese .into Rhodesia. Oswald Cullen and J.
