PERSONAL.
The Rev. W. Saunders has been elected president of the Council of Churches, arid the Rev. I. Jolly, M.A., secretary. At the railway goods office, on the occasion of his promotion to a responsible position in B goods shed, Mr- L. S. Downes was presented with a handsome address by his fellow-officers. The presentation was made by Mr Mearris, who referred in kindly terms to Mr Downes’s efficiency as a. railway officer. The recipient appropriately responded.
