Mr Paulin telephoned at 230 p.m. : “Squally S.W. to N.W. wind, and sleet and snow showers.”
Heavy rain fell at Moegiel last night, accompanied by cold wind, and followed this morning by a considerable fall of snow. The hills in the neighborhood were ah covered with a very thick mantle of snow. GREY MOUTH, July 18 The weather has been bad since Saturday. The .Upolu and Diogadee are in the roadstead, and cannot get in before tomorrow. The Haupiri is at the bar, bonnd for Westport. The Christchurch coach left yesterday, but was blocked in the Olira Gorge by snow.
WESTPORT, July 18 Extremely bad weather has been experienced here since Sunday. The main Bailer road is blocked by a landslip, and a number of steamers ate weather-bound in port.
